Out and About

The camps location provides a useful base for exploring further afield in south west Uganda. Have a look at some fun excursions possible from the camp:

Visit Lake Mburo National Park – 1 day
Leave the camp in the early morning and enter Lake Mburo National Park only a 25 minute drive away. Activities held within the park include nature walks, a boat trip, mountain bike safaris, day and night drives. We can organise the hiring of safari vehicles from neighbouring lodges for your day trip.

Visit Queen Elizabeth National Park – 2-3 day
This park is a 3-4 hour drive from the camp. It provides the opportunity to see wildlife not found in the camps surroundings such as elephant, Ugandan kob and lions. If you push further afield to the southern sector, Ishasha, you will get the chance of spotting the tree climbing lions. Chimp trekking is also available in Kyambura Gorge or Kalinzu forest.

Gorilla trekking – 3 days
You’re so close to this once in a lifetime opportunity why not make the trip to Bwindi Impenetrable forest? A half day drive down to the forest will get you there in time to prepare for gorilla tracking the next morning. After your days trek take another evening to relax and enjoy the forest surroundings.

Lake Bunyoni – 2-3 days
Arguably one of the most beautiful areas of Uganda. The steep hills which surround this fresh water lake provide breath taking scenery to relax for a few days. Swim in the lake (cold but bilharzia free!), take a canoe ride, walk about the hills or just sit and relax.

Fort Portal – 2-3 days
Another scenic spot in Uganda to relax in for a few days. The trails around the crater lakes provide a bit of exercise if you’re feeling guilty about putting your feet up while Kibale forest, which hosts one of the best chimpanzee tracking experiences, is only a short journey away.
